In the central scene St. Eulalia is flogged at the command of the provost Dacian, who holds the sword that in some versions will finish her off. Dacian and the officers who attend in the background wear outlandish turbans that associate them with the Moslems still active in Spain at the time.
On the left is St. Michael outfitted as usual as a medieval knight, with the dragon of Revelation 12:7-8 at his feet. On the right is Catherine with her crown, sword, and spiked wheel.
